Waukesha County's Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a talented and compassionate nurse to serve community members working towards bettering their mental health.The Mental Health Center is certified to provide mental health and substance use inpatient treatmentservices and maintains a close working relationship with Waukesha Memorial Hospital and other community agencies and partners.

This inpatient Weekend Registered Nurse work assignment is responsible for:
1. Providing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for behavioral health patients consistent with ANA standards.
2. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed and observing for cause and effect; reporting findings to physicians.
3. Participating as a member of the nursing team providing treatments and nursing services.
4. Providing direct nursing care for mentally ill and physically ill patients.
5. Providing therapeutic one-on-one interactions with patients.
6. Participating with supervisor in orienting, instructing, assigning, and evaluating nursing personnel.
7. Participating in planning and organizing inpatient services and programs to meet the needs of the acute, chronic, or short-term crisis of the mentally ill.
8. Participating in the evaluation of treatment planning for each client with other mental health staff.
9. Serving as a representative to the general public, community agencies, and professional groups, interpreting mental health services, and promoting mental health programs.
10. Accurately maintaining records of patients mental and physical condition, nursing care provided, and treatment administered in an electronic medical record.
11. Completing procedures for admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
12. Interpreting and communicating medical nursing policies and programs among nursing personnel, allied professions, patients, and families.
13. Performing emergency government duties as assigned in the event of a Waukesha County Emergency Government declaration.
14. Assisting in restraining physically aggressive patients and de-escalating psychologically or emotionally agitated patients.
15. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
1. Graduation from a recognized registered nursing education program.
2. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin.
