Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Caretenders Home Health, part of the LHC Group, seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to deliver treatment and patient education within the established plan of care in the home health setting.

You will instruct patients, families, and caregivers in exercises, monitor responses, and coordinate with supervising PT and the healthcare team. Weekend rotation is required; CPR certification is preferred; ability to lift and transfer patients is essential.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation
• Available to work a weekend rotation

Responsibilities

• Follow all state laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care; perform only those procedures defined by the supervising PT; make recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses to treatment; coordinates care with the health care team
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other health care team members in therapy within the scope of the PTA
• Function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client
