Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on full-time weekend shifts in Lexington, KY. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals.

The Surgical Services Department includes Pre-Op, 20 operating rooms, a Postoperative Care Unit, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing. Responsibilities cover patient assessment, care planning, direct care, and leadership in patient flow.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Kentucky.
• 1 year of RN experience minimum.
• BLS certification required; if not held, obtain within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP and dysrhythmia training as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' needs and develop care plans.
• Provide direct patient care and supervise/delegate to Patient Care Techs, LPNs, unit secretaries, and students.
• Lead in coordinating patient care delivery and uphold quality care.
• Demonstrate clinical decision-making across all phases of nursing process.
• Work in the OR setting and participate in on-call weekends/holidays as scheduled.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

• Demonstrate leadership skills.

• On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
• Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery.
• Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
• Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited College/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLSPALSNRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
