Job summary

Hunger Mountain Co-op is seeking a Produce Assistant Buyer & Receiver to support the Produce Buyer in purchasing and receiving fresh produce. This part-time role requires approximately 16 hours weekly, with a Friday-Saturday morning schedule, and reports to the Produce Manager.

You'll help place orders, rotate stock, maintain pricing, assist with displays, and provide friendly service to staff and customers in a busy grocery cooperative environment located in Montpelier, Vermont.

Qualifications

• Prior retail produce experience is required or preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and numerical aptitude.
• Familiarity with computer systems, including Excel and POS software.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand long periods, and work in a cold environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow department policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Assist in buying and placing day-to-day orders with suppliers.
• Receive deliveries, check quality, rotate stock, and manage invoices.
• Maintain displays, signage, and pricing, and assist with stocking.
• Provide produce information and education to staff and customers.
