Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform venipuncture and capillary collections, with accurate labeling and data entry into the LIS. You will ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance while supporting department goals.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of a hospital-approved phlebotomy course. Training on day shift 5am–1:30pm for 4 weeks accompanies weekend coverage “every other weekend” 5am–1:30pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Hospital approved phlebotomy course required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood from patients according to policies and procedures.
• Verify patient identity and correctly label specimens.
• Enter orders in LIS and ensure compliance with ABN/ICD-10 requirements.
• Maintain a sanitary work area and assist with equipment upkeep.
