Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Clinton, MD is seeking a PRN phlebotomist to handle patient samples, including receipt, processing, and distribution within the laboratory, and to ship specimens to MedStar testing laboratories and external reference labs.

The role also provides backup phlebotomy support for inpatient and outpatient collections, maintains inventory, follows universal precautions, and supports the lab team, with primary weekend evening shifts and occasional weekend

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year inpatient phlebotomy experience required.
• CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification Phlebotomy certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides backup phlebotomy support and follows established policies.
• Cleans laboratory glassware, sinks, workbenches, refrigerators, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment.
• Follows standard precautions at all times.
• Prepares stains, solutions, quality control materials, standards, and reagents as directed.
• Utilizes and maintains waived testing equipment and performs waived testing according to policies.
