Qualifications

• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings required for the role.
• High School Diploma or GED or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• BLS Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Safely move patients to and from clinical units and various diagnostic/treatment areas via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.
• Walk an excess of 10 miles per 8-hour shift, pushing a patient 60% of that distance.
• Assist patient care staff in transferring patients to transport equipment using safe handling and lifting techniques.
• Provide emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport and stay with the patient until help arrives.
• Transport deceased patients to the Morgue with a staff member present to complete paperwork.
• Keep the department organized by storing transport equipment in approved areas and tagging for repair as needed.
• Support nursing staff with delivery of quality patient care and act as a hub for patient movement.
