Job summary

Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA is seeking a weekend-only, part-time Patient Access Specialist to register patients, verify demographics and insurance, and collect upfront payments in our health information system. You will work on-site with a team, coordinate with the pre-authorization group, and uphold our standards for compliance, accuracy, and customer service to support care delivery.

Minimum high school diploma, 1 year in a patient/customer-facing role, and Virginia employment

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1-year previous experience in patient/customer-facing role.
• Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Captures and enters accurate patient demographic and financial information via direct patient contact or via telephone.
• Ensures all documentation is complete and included on the patient record in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Verifies insurance and coordinates with pre-authorization team to obtain appropriate insurance authorization and financial clearance.
• Communicates the financial liability to patients and collects the patient’s portion of financial responsibility.
• Obtains patient/legal representative signature on consent and other registration forms.
• Completes all registration quality audit worklists in a timely manner.
