Job summary

Excelsior University is seeking part-time clinical instructors to support nursing courses. You will supervise and evaluate student clinical experiences, provide timely feedback, and ensure access to resources to promote student success.

The role requires a Master's in nursing (or BSN with active progress toward a master’s/doctoral degree), an active NYS RN license, and 5+ years of RN experience in varied clinical areas, including acute care. Training and weekend commitments are part of the term.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing or BSN with active enrollment in a master’s or doctoral program in Nursing.
• Active, unencumbered NYS RN license.
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience across varied clinical areas.
• Current clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Experience supervising nursing students or new graduate RNs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present information clearly.
• Experience with educational technology including video conferencing.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete institution-sponsored training program.
• Fulfill all requirements and policies in the Clinical Faculty Handbook.
• Work 2 non-consecutive weekends at a clinical site during an 8-week term (Friday 6 hours, and Sat/Sun 12 hours).
• Remain present for the entire clinical day and full hours.
• Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student.
• Demonstrate competence with nursing skills and related technology (EHR, IV pumps, etc.).
• Complete facility training and be familiar with policies.
• Participate in pre- and post-clinical activities in Canvas LMS.
• Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students as needed.
• Provide individualized feedback highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
• Complete clinical evaluation rubrics for each student.
