Job summary

Excelsior University seeks a part-time clinical instructor to coordinate with instructional faculty and oversee student clinical experiences. You will provide timely feedback, supervise and evaluate clinical experiences, and ensure students have access to resources to succeed.

The role requires a Master's in nursing or a BSN with active enrollment toward a master's/doctorate, NYS RN license, and 5+ years RN experience across clinical areas.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing required; or BSN with active enrollment toward master's/doctorate in Nursing; ability to support teaching, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
• Active, unencumbered NYS RN license
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in varied clinical areas
• Current clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Experience supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly
• Experience with educational technology including video conferencing software
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Complete onboarding and training requirements for Excelsior University and site.
• Adhere to policies identified in the Clinical Faculty Handbook.
• Work 2 non-consecutive weekends during an 8-week term with specified hours.
• Grade all clinical assignments by due dates.
• Remain present for the entire clinical day.
• Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student.
• Demonstrate competency with nursing skills and related technology.
• Complete facility required training and become familiar with units.
• Participate in pre- and post-clinical activities within Canvas LMS.
• Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students.
• Provide evidence-based examples and feedback to students.
• Complete clinical evaluation rubrics promptly.
