Job summary

Correctional Psychiatric Services PC is seeking a Weekend Nurse Supervisor to deliver high-quality patient care at the Suffolk House of Correction location in Boston, MA. The Nurse Supervisor will provide direct nursing care and/or oversight in a jail setting while observing and maintaining the requirements of security.

You will oversee inmate care, ensure physician orders are followed, monitor transfers, maintain documentation, and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a national or state approved school of vocational nursing.
• Licensed to practice as an RN or LPN in Massachusetts.
• Ability to apply nursing care principles in a jail/secure setting.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of all aspects of inmate/detainee care.
• Ensure medication orders and treatments are implemented; complete audit rounds twice weekly and document accordingly.
• Maintain medication security and monitor for hoarding or trafficking risks.
• Monitor patient transfers to medical facilities or external providers.
• Prepare regular and special reports as needed.
• Supervise storage, accountability and disposal of sharps.
• Participate in ongoing in-service education with at least 40 hours annually.
• Adhere to all security rules and regulations.
• Cover vacant shifts as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
