Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a unit-based clerical professional to perform routine secretarial duties on the nursing unit. The role includes preparing, compiling, and maintaining patient and operational records to support smooth unit operations.

You will handle telephone messages, assist with patient flow and coordination of admissions, discharges, and transfers, and manage documentation within the electronic medical record system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of secretarial or administrative assistant experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn unit computer systems quickly.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain clerical information on the unit.
• Screen and refer telephone messages regarding patient information and unit operations.
• Assist with patient flow, unit rounding, and visitor security coordination.
• Maintain patient electronic medical records with accuracy and coordinate consults with providers.
