Job summary

Johnson County Mental Health Center within Johnson County Government is seeking a qualified Mental Health Nurse (RN) to support a 24-hour adult crisis facility and assist with admissions at youth crisis services. The role works weekend nights, 7:00 pm–7:30 am, and requires collaboration with clinicians, psychiatrists, and care staff to meet patient needs.

Minimum requirements include a nursing degree and Kansas RN license; a driver’s license with an acceptable record is also required.

Qualifications

• RN license in Kansas required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Reference/background screening required.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses holistic needs including family and environment; documents patient health history; measures vital signs and performs health assessments.
• Assesses psychiatric symptoms, psychosocial issues, and medication side effects; consults with psychiatrists; coordinates changes in treatment with the team; administers IM injections.
• Completes and submits documentation; reviews quality and effectiveness of services.
• Educates patients and families; develops health training for staff; provides case management and care coordination.
