Job summary

Johnson County Government's Mental Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Nurse (RN) to join the Youth Crisis Stabilization Center. Working with the Behavioral Health Nursing team, you will support a 24-hour facility that serves adolescent clients and assist with admissions at the Adult Crisis Center.

The shift is Saturdays and Sundays 7:00 am to 7:30 pm. You will collaborate with clinicians, psychiatrists, and case managers to meet individual mental health needs, provide nursing care,

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent and a Vocational, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas with a valid driver's license.
• Three years of nursing experience in Psychiatric inpatient or outpatient settings preferred.
• Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.
• Preferred: nursing experience in psychiatric care settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses holistic needs; documents health history; records vital signs; administers medications and performs basic procedures.
• Assesses psychiatric symptoms and coordinates with psychiatrists; monitors treatment plans and lab results; administers injections when ordered.
• Completes and submits documentation of patient care; reviews quality and effectiveness of services.
• Educates patients and families on health, wellness, and daily living activities; provides health training to staff.
• Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and families.
