Job summary

Johnson County Government is actively seeking a Mental Health Nurse (RN) to join the Adult Crisis Center team. The RN will work with the Behavioral Health Nursing staff to support a 24-hour facility and assist with admissions at the Youth Crisis Stabilization Center, focusing on comprehensive psychiatric care and medication administration.

The role requires RN licensure in Kansas, a nursing degree, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent and a Vocational, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other Nursing program that meets RN requirements.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas is required.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
• Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.
• Three years of nursing experience in Psychiatric inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses holistic needs; records health history and vital signs; performs health assessments and limited exams.
• Assesses psychiatric symptoms and psychosocial issues; coordinates changes in treatment with psychiatrists and care team; administers medications and injections as ordered.
• Completes and submits documentation regarding patient care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services.
• Provides patients and families with supportive resources; educates on health, wellness, and daily living activities.
• Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and/or families.
