Job summary

TDOT is seeking a Rest Area Attendant to perform contract duties within state timeframes and ensure standards are met. You will sanitize restrooms, manage grounds, and assist with maintenance tasks across shifts, while adhering to HIPAA, Title VI, and confidentiality requirements.

The role requires attention to safety procedures, ability to work with minimal supervision, and willingness to participate in required trainings and potentially out-of-town activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Physical and mental alertness to perform contract duties.
• Maintenance experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
• Comply with TDOT policies, HIPAA, Title VI, and confidentiality requirements.
• Attend in-service training sessions, meetings, and out-of-town activities as required.
• Promote a positive work environment by treating staff and visitors with courtesy and respect.
• Maintain restrooms in clean and sanitary condition; restock supplies as needed.
• Keep foyer and reception area clean, weekly cleaning of walls/ceilings.
• Maintain storage area clean, neat, and secure.
• Report repairs to Rest Area Supervisor.
• Sweep or hose down parking lot areas and walkways; keep them free of snow and ice.
• Maintain grounds: rake leaves, mow grass, weed beds, water plants, mulch.
• Collect trash and empty receptacles; dispose as needed.
• Complete required Quality Control Check List within shift time frames.
• Clean windows, light fixtures, floors, doors, and water fountains regularly.
• Remove trash and debris from grounds and parking lot daily.
• Clean picnic tables and pavilions daily; edge curbs/walkways weekly.
• Stock brochure racks at shift start.
• Report incidents of vandalism/theft/accidents to Supervisor and authorities.
• Follow safety/health/sanitation procedures and report unsafe practices.
• Support third shift to curb vandalism and incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Rest Area Supervisor.
