Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Part-time Night Shift Registered Nurse to provide individualized nursing care across age groups within our Des Moines area facilities. The role requires independent practice under the Nurse Practice Act, rotating shifts, and adherence to Mercy Medical Center policies.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in ongoing education, and contribute to high-quality patient outcomes while supporting patient autonomy and family education.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact state.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Administers nursing care including assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care plan with physicians.
• Provides care per orders, protocols, and professional judgment.
• Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families and healthcare teams.
• Participates in ongoing education and shares knowledge with peers.
• Delivers care while preserving patient autonomy and rights.
• Plans care with safety, effectiveness, and cost in mind.
• Educates patients and families on health problems and solutions.
• Uses hospital information systems to process orders and retrieve data.
• Maintains documentation requirements for patient records.
• Works independently with limited supervision within policies and standards.
