Job summary

WTOV in Kentucky is seeking a Newscast Director for weekend 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts. The role includes working with our production crew in a remote production trailer and contributing to sports and live events coverage.

You will direct and code newscasts using Ross, Overdrive and SAGA automation, collaborate with producers on productions, and ensure studio and control room readiness. Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Experience directing newscasts.
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment.
• Experience with broadcast automation systems and production control room operations.
• Ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Direct and code assigned newscasts and productions using Ross, Overdrive, and SAGA automation systems.
• Work with Producers on production of newscasts and special projects.
• Collaborate with remote production crew on sports telecasts, including directing, camera operation, replay, graphics or audio, and set up/teardown duties.
• Maintain production studio and control room.
• Ensure studio equipment and production areas are organized, operational and clean at the start of each shift.
• Assist management in maximizing quality of newscasts, production workflows and technical operations.
