Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring seeks a Medical Technologist for the Microbiology department. This part-time, PRN role covers weekend day shifts with rotating holidays and flexibility to support patient services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology) with rotation completed.
• Alternatively, BA/BS with biological sciences, chemistry, math and completed NAACLS Medical Technologist program.
• New graduate to 5 years' clinical lab experience; eligible for MT certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA).

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and microscopy including the inoculation of solid and liquid media, and the preparation and examination of stained smears and wet preparations.
• Performs tests for the detection and/or identification of infectious agents.
• Performs tests for the determination of organism antimicrobial susceptibility.
• Maintains and operates department equipment; performs preventive and corrective maintenance with documentation.
• Participates in the Department’s Quality Assurance and Improvement Program and assists in training and education.
