Job summary

Abhealthnetwork is seeking an experienced Assistant Chef / Prep Cook to support daily culinary operations within our behavioral health programs. You will assist with lunch and dinner preparation, ingredient preparation, meal production, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.

The role emphasizes weekend meal production and service, ensuring meals meet dietary needs and safety standards while working under the direction of the Executive Chef.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow recipes, written instructions, preparation schedules, and established food-safety procedures.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a culinary team.
• Ability to prepare multiple food items while maintaining quality and meeting service deadlines.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily lunch and dinner menus and culinary operations.
• Prepare ingredients, sauces, vegetables, proteins, grains, and other meal components per recipes.
• Coordinate with the Executive Chef on menu items, dietary requirements, and production priorities.
• Prepare, organize, and stage food in advance to ensure meals are ready for scheduled service.
• Maintain food quality, taste, and presentation while ensuring safety and proper portion sizes.
• Assist with weekend meal preparation and batch cooking when needed.
• Ensure proper food storage and end-of-shift cleaning procedures.
