Job summary

Housing Matters seeks a part-time Direct Services Coordinator/Cook to prepare and transport meals from the kitchen to shelter participants. The role involves immersive kitchen operations, safe food handling, and collaboration with campus staff.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of institutional cooking experience, Serve-Safe certification, and a valid CA driver’s license. Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 am–7:00 pm, with PTO eligibility.

Qualifications

• Regular standing, walking, sitting, crouching, stooping, transporting food in a vehicle, and communication are required.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and operate kitchen equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals meeting Serve-Safe standards.
• Safely operate stove, skillets, ovens, can openers, knives, steam tables, and other kitchen equipment.
• Wash dishes and kitchen equipment.
• Transport meals to Recuperative Care Center.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and cleaning protocols.
• Support shelter programs and day services.
