Caltech is seeking a part-time janitorial/maintenance assistant for Palomar Observatory, reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance group supervisor. The role involves cleaning, grounds support, snow/ice removal, and general janitorial tasks on weekends (Saturday to Monday) and interaction with management, staff, and visitors.
Requirements include a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and working outdoors in various conditions.

This is a part-time, benefited position located at Palomar Observatory. The position works under the supervision of the Facilities and Maintenance group supervisor. Position will work alone on weekends (Saturday to Monday) to perform janitorial and other maintenance and cleaning services at Palomar Observatory. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning and maintenance of observatory buildings, assisting others in grounds maintenance, snow/ice removal, and general janitorial duties. The position is expected to communicate effectively with the observatory’s management, staff, and the general public.
$21.00 - $24.00 Per Hour
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
