Job summary

Pagosa Springs Medical Center is seeking a dependable Security Officer to join our Facilities team on a part-time basis, with day shifts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The role focuses on patrols, access control, incident response, and patient and staff safety in a hospital setting.

You will monitor surveillance, enforce safety policies, and coordinate with hospital staff and local responders. The position offers weekend hours and on-site work within a supportive healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field preferred but not required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hospital security, law enforcement, or another security position required.
• Current AHA BLS HeartSaver certification required.
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the hospital campus and adjacent buildings to identify security risks.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms; control facility access.
• Verify IDs and manage visitor flow; protect hospital assets.
• Respond to emergencies and disturbances; de-escalate as needed.
• Document security incidents accurately and communicate with leadership.
