Job summary

NOW Foods is seeking a QC Physical Lab Tech I for the Weekend Evening Shift at Bloomingdale, IL. The role operates on-site in a Quality Control and R&D setting, handling sample intake, physical and organoleptic testing, and data entry into LIMS and Excel.

The candidate will perform instrument-based tests (pH, FTIR, NIR, disintegration, moisture, titration) and maintain logs, while ensuring GMP and safety practices, with flexibility for weekend scheduling and cross-site work at 391 and 395

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 0-2 years laboratory experience.
• Familiarity with general laboratory equipment required.
• Proven ability to accurately conduct physical and organoleptic testing and inspect laboratory samples.

Responsibilities

• Receives and collects samples in the LIMS system.
• Performs physical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, prepackaged items, stability samples and other laboratory samples.
• Performs organoleptic testing, including appearance, taste and odor.
• Records and compares results to specifications and performs secondary reviews.
• Initiates OOS investigations for samples not meeting specification or atypical from historical trend.
• Operates equipment including pH meter, FTIR, NIR, disintegration apparatus, moisture analyzer, and other instruments.
• Accurately enters laboratory test results into worksheets, Excel spreadsheets, LIMS and Access database.
• Requests samples through Smartsheet, as needed.
• Performs metal detector checks and temperature checks as needed.
• Maintains daily logs and equipment logbooks.
• Cleans, maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment.
• Orders lab supplies as needed.
• Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and 0-2 years laboratory experience.
