PetVet Care Centers’ Animal Emergency Clinic St. Louis is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Weekend Shift) to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks such as cleaning equipment, restraining patients, taking vital signs, and handling clerical work.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED (required)
• At least 2+ years in the veterinary field

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and their owners upon arrival, guide to examining room and record weight/vital signs
• Triage patients and assist with physical exams and medications under licensed staff direction
• Calm and soothe anxious patients
• Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration and patient restraint
• Perform basic laboratory tests and radiographs
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and ensure proper documentation of medications and controlled substances
• Feed, groom, and care for patients including overnight stays when applicable
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper chemical use
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure security of medications
• Promote hospital products and services and provide great customer service
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by management
