Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an ED RN Case Manager to manage a defined patient population and ensure correct placement into observation or inpatient status. You will work with ED doctors and Patient Access to optimize outcomes and billing accuracy, using criteria like MCG and InterQual.

This role requires an active Texas RN license, BLS within 30 days, and strong communication; experience with EMR systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Current RN license from Texas Board of Nursing required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• Experience in case management, care coordination, utilization review, discharge planning, or related areas.
• Able to navigate electronic medical records (EPIC, Meditech, Healthy Planet, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate correct bed status designation (OBS vs inpatient) for ED patients.
• Promote optimal outcomes and appropriate resource utilization.
• Collaborate with ED physicians and Patient Access to ensure accurate billing status and payor authorization.
