Job summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking an ED RN Case Manager to coordinate patient placement between observation and inpatient status. You will work with ED physicians and Patient Access to ensure proper billing, payer authorization, and timely notifications, while promoting safe, efficient care and resource use.

The role requires an associate degree in nursing with 3+ years in case management or related areas; BLS and Texas RN license are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing.
• At least three years of experience in case management, care coordination, utilization review, discharge planning and related areas.
• Must be computer literate with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with EMRs (EPIC, Meditech, Healthy Planet).
• Bilingualism is preferred depending on department assignment.

Responsibilities

• Determine correct bed status (OBS vs inpatient) for patient placement.
• Collaborate with ED physicians and Patient Access staff to ensure accurate billing and payor authorization.
• Promote optimal clinical outcomes and efficient resource utilization.
• Navigate and use electronic medical records to support care coordination.
