Job summary

Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid-Maine seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our daytime weekend team. We are an after-hours hospital providing critical care 365 days a year when regular practices are closed.

You’ll rotate with five veterinarians and a team of technicians in a fast-paced environment, expanding emergency medicine skills and contributing to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician status or significant hands-on experience.
• Experience in a veterinary hospital, with emergency care exposure preferred.
• Strong venipuncture, IV catheterization, imaging and lab skills.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency patients and obtain histories, vitals and assessments.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, procedures and emergencies.
• Provide nursing care from intake to discharge.
• Perform venipuncture, fluid therapy and sample collection.
• Prepare and administer medications; obtain radiographs.
• Conduct in-house lab tests and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure clean, organized workspaces.
• Communicate clearly with clients about care and discharge plans.
