Job summary

Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic seeks an experienced Emergency Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced after-hours team. This is not an entry-level role—candidates must independently manage emergencies, prioritize care, and mentor junior staff during busy shifts.

Based in Warren, Maine, our hospital offers advanced in-house labs, digital radiography, ultrasound, a surgical suite, and an on-site pharmacy, with shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support pet owners

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience in veterinary emergency, urgent care, or high-volume clinical practice.
• Ability to work under pressure with clear communication to clients and team.
• Licensure as Veterinary Technician in Maine or eligibility for transfer.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly assess emergency patients and prioritize care based on needs.
• Perform thorough physical assessments and document findings and updates.
• Prepare patients, equipment, medications, and areas for care.
• Provide advanced nursing care to hospitalized, urgent, and emergent patients.
• Assist with stabilization, diagnostics, and surgical prep and monitoring.
• Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery under veterinary direction.
• Mentor less experienced team members and coordinate assistant coverage.
• Communicate treatment plans and discharge instructions to owners.
