Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. in King of Prussia, PA is seeking a Computer Operator to monitor the IBM iSeries and related servers in the corporate data center. You will ensure system availability and proper operation across all hardware and interfaces.

The role includes responding to alerts, mounting backup media, and providing first-level support for connectivity and user issues. Weekend shifts are required, with potential holiday work to ensure continuous IS operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of related experience required.
• Basic working knowledge of IBM System i and Windows-based PCs and servers.
• Good verbal and written communications skills to speak and correspond with customers and colleagues.
• Duties are performed during an assigned 8-hour shift and may vary depending upon the shift and system work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the operation of all servers, hosts systems and network components to ensure proper functioning and availability to end-users.
• Utilizes monitoring tools and reviews system console messages, event logs and alerts.
• Responds to error conditions by entering commands or mounting storage as needed.
• Provides first-level support for connectivity issues, interface problems and logins.
• Mounts and unloads backup media for backup/restore operations.
• Assists BRMS management of tapes and other backup media.
