Job summary

The Family Place is seeking a Weekend Cook to provide essential weekend food service for transitional housing residents. You will prepare nutritious meals, manage kitchen inventory, and maintain food safety standards in a busy kitchen environment.

You will work independently on weekends, develop menus, order supplies, and ensure a welcoming dining experience for residents rebuilding their lives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen or similar setting.
• Food handlers license and valid Texas driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare well-balanced meals and snacks following USDA guidelines and weekly menus.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment and ensure proper temperatures during prep and service.
• Develop weekly menus and manage inventory and ordering to meet meal schedules.
• Adhere to sanitation standards and maintain clean kitchen and cafeteria spaces.
• Support special events with meal preparation and service.
