Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a part-time Clinical Laboratory Assistant for weekend shifts (Sat/Sun 4:00 AM-8:00 AM with holiday rotation) on-site at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. You will ensure precise sample collection, processing, and distribution for analysis, contributing to safe, high-quality patient care.

The role requires attention to detail, collaboration, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Phlebotomy training and/or certification preferred.
Some college coursework in a science field preferred.
Chauffeur license Class E or higher for Missouri residents preferred.

Responsibilities

Adhere to laboratory policies and accrediting standards (CAP, CLIA, DNV).
Process and deliver specimens to the correct location, on-site or off-site.
Support department quality measures and goals.
Order requested testing in the LIS, back order testing as needed, and advise on ICD-10 codes.
Communicate with stakeholders inside and outside the hospital.
Provide weekend and holiday shift coverage and assist with staffing multiple sites.
Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection following SOPs and ensure specimen integrity.
Complete department duties as outlined in documents.
