Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center is actively hiring an experienced RN to join Gray Birch as Weekend Charge Nurse. The role supports the Nurse Manager in daily operations and direct patient care in a long-term care setting.

The position is 16 hours per week on day shift (7a-3p, Sat/Sun). There is potential to add a second Staff RN code to increase weekly hours to 24 or 32. Competitive compensation and benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Possess a current State of Maine RN license or the ability to obtain one promptly.
• Previous RN experience, preferred.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
• Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, census and patient acuity.
• Provides direct patient care.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes.
• Responds to complaints about patient care and related services and manages through established channels.
• Entering orders, admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
• Ensures staff has equipment and supplies to provide safe, effective care.
