Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an entry level Housekeeper to attend to housekeeping needs and ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in residential halls and other Student Affairs areas. Responsibilities include floor care, trash removal, snow/ice removal, and replenishing supplies, with the use of cleaning equipment.

The role requires excellent customer service, knowledge of cleaning methods, and the ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in residence halls and other assigned areas.
• Operate powered and manual cleaning equipment.
• Report needed equipment and building repairs and any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations.
• Care for and handle housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
• Be willing to learn housekeeping procedures and receive training on equipment.
