Job description

Position Overview

You will be an active member of the Spectrum Center security team. As a Security Officer, you are responsible for providing access control and security for all guests, media, and employees during non‑event and event times at Spectrum Center. You will also roam the interior and exterior of the arena. This is a part‑time weekend‑only position.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

You will be responsible for

• Greeting guests and employees as they enter Spectrum Center
• Utilizing the Lobby Guard visitor management system to ensure all guests are accounted for
• Operating the security X‑ray machine and walk‑through medical detector, ensuring no prohibited items enter Spectrum Center
• Patrolling all levels of the arena on foot to identify safety hazards, unsecure and secure doors in the arena as directed
• Patrolling the Spectrum Center external footprint on foot or golf cart, including but not limited to Trade Street Plaza and loading dock
• Proactively observing patrols and reporting to the management team and supervisor
• Working closely with the security management team
• Enforcing policies and procedures throughout the facility on a 24‑hour, 7‑day a week basis
• Following all rules and regulations as outlined by policies, procedures and post orders
• Following all NBA security guidelines
• Reading and interpreting detailed incident reports
• Aiding in the direction of orderly evacuation of the building
• Assisting the department with special projects as assigned
• Performing other duties as assigned by the manager
• Monitoring and maintaining access control

Essential Guest Service Functions

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university, or 1–3 years of industry experience in a command‑center role

• Interpersonal skills – works well in a team environment, professional, interacts with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
