Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT seeks an Inpatient Palliative Care Chaplain to provide spiritual guidance and emotional support to patients, families, and staff within the hospital’s palliative care program. Reporting to the Palliative Care Medical Director, the chaplain will integrate spiritual care into treatment plans and participate in interdisciplinary rounds.

Requires Master of Divinity, four CPE units, and at least two years chaplaincy experience,

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity or related Theology degree from an accredited CHEA‑accredited institution.
• Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required.
• Minimum of two years chaplaincy experience, with at least one year in a palliative care or hospital setting preferred.
• Experience with chronic illness, end-of-life care, or hospice patients is essential.
• Board certification (or eligibility) with the National Association of Professional Chaplains (NAPC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or equivalent; ordination in good standing if ordained.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual guidance and emotional support to patients, families, and staff within the hospital's palliative care program.
• Collaborate with the palliative care team to integrate spiritual care into patient treatment plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and rounds to address psychosocial and spiritual needs.
• Support diverse religious, cultural backgrounds with compassionate care.
• Maintain proficiency with EPIC EMR and related documentation.
