Job summary

Hartford HealthCare invites dedicated chaplains to join Hartford Hospital's Spiritual Care Department. You will provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff, performing assessments and collaborating with an interprofessional team to support healing across physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

Ideal candidates bring formal theological education, pastoral ministry experience, and APC-accredited CPE. Endorsement by faith groups is required, with Catholic priesthood preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have formal graduate theological education in pastoral care, theology, and/or psychology.
• One or more years' experience in pastoral ministry and/or hospital chaplaincy.
• Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by APC.
• Faith group endorsement/ecclesiastical endorsement/Judicatory approval.
• Ordained Roman Catholic Priest preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff at hospital as appropriate and complete spiritual assessments.
• Collaborates with interprofessional care team, volunteers and faith community to integrate physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
• Maintains timely documentation of spiritual care services with outcomes and plan of care.
• Responds to referrals from staff, patients, and families and crisis intervention.
• Demonstrates multi-faith and multicultural chaplaincy skills to provide care in diverse settings.
