Responsibilities

  • Compare the County's existing website with the new website to ensure all required information, resources, and services are appropriately represented.
  • Identify missing content, broken user journeys, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Edit and organize web content based on existing content, source materials, and project notes.
  • Complete and refine partially built pages as directed.
  • Learn and effectively utilize the CMS (training provided).
  • Review content for grammar, spelling, readability, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Evaluate website content from the perspective of residents, visitors, and other end users.
  • Apply SEO best practices to page structure, headings, and content organization.
  • Help identify and address accessibility concerns using WCAG-based best practices.
  • Participate in regular planning and review meetings with the Web Developer.

Website Content and Quality Assurance Assistant

Location: Muskegon County, Michigan (In Office)
Hours: 12-16 hours per week (fixed schedule preferred)
Duration: Temporary, Open-Ended

Position Summary

Muskegon County is seeking a detail-oriented Website Content and Quality Assurance assistant to help with the ongoing migration and review of content for a new county website.

This position will help ensure that information from the County's existing website is appropriately represented, organized, and maintained within a new content management system. The successful candidate will compare existing and new website content, identify missing information, improve content quality, and help ensure the website meets modern standards for usability, accessibility, and search engine optimization.

This is not a data-entry position. The ideal candidate will be comfortable evaluating content, identifying gaps and inconsistencies, and making recommendations for improvement.
