Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Operates a crawler tractor with a bulldozer mounted in front of the chassis to level, distribute, and push earth or other materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Start engines, operate controls, and manipulate levers and pedals to operate machines.
- Operate ripper attachments to break up rock or other hard materials.
- Use push blocks on the front of the tractor to push load scrapers.
- Take actions to avoid hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, workers, and falling objects.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as oiling, greasing, and servicing the machine.
- Adjust equipment as needed to ensure proper operation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all safety policies and procedures; report unsafe activities.
- Participate in team efforts to meet departmental and company goals.
- Lead by example and share knowledge/skills with others.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Less than a High School Diploma with relevant construction experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work outdoors exposed to weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL
- Heavy physical activity involving strenuous tasks typical of construction work.
MANUAL DEXTERITY
- Sufficient manual dexterity to handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
