Job summary

Understory is seeking a Field Technician to install and service weather stations for clients across the United States. You will be part of a dynamic, safety-focused team, documenting installations, assisting with inspections, and maintaining equipment and inventory.

This role blends field work with office tasks in a fast-paced startup environment. You will travel 50% of the time, climb ladders, lift up to 75 pounds, and ensure quality and safety in every installation.

Qualifications

• Must be hardworking with the ability to work independently
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving mindset are essential
• Excellent communication and attention to detail are required
• Climbing certifications or extensive climbing experience is a plus
• Willingness to travel across the US and lift up to 75 pounds regularly
• Comfort working at heights and on irregular surfaces; valid driver’s license
• Experience working remotely or with partially remote teams is advantageous
• Flexible work ethic and safety-focused approach are expected

Responsibilities

• Install weather stations at site locations across the US, documenting work and maintaining inventory
• Travel as a front-line ambassador to clients while ensuring safety and quality
• Meet project guidelines balancing technical requirements, constructability, operational needs and safety
• Perform mechanical maintenance as part of upkeep
• Maintain an organized warehouse and inventory system
