Job summary

Ameren Illinois is offering a full-time summer Meteorology Intern position within the Crisis Management team. This role provides hands-on experience applying meteorological principles to support operational decision-making, emergency preparedness, and storm response, with exposure to weather data visualization and AI applications.

You will monitor weather conditions, prepare briefings, analyze forecast information, and collaborate with crisis management, emergency preparedness, and utility

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, climatology, or related field.
• Courses in meteorology, forecasting, or GIS are a plus.
• Interest in weather-related decision support and emergency management.
• Familiarity with weather data sources and visualization tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily weather forecasts, watches, warnings, advisories, and other weather products that may impact utility operations.
• Prepare daily weather briefings, storm outlooks, and situational awareness reports.
• Analyze forecast models, radar imagery, and meteorological data to identify potential operational impacts.
• Support weather monitoring during severe weather and emergency events.
• Research historical weather events and post-event analyses.
• Correlate weather information with outage data for insights.
• Enhance weather intelligence in Ameren Illinois Crisis Dashboard.
• Collaborate across crisis management, ops, and business continuity teams.
• Participate in training, exercises, and special projects.
