Job summary

Ameren Illinois invites motivated students to join the Crisis Management team as Meteorology Interns for a full-time summer program. You will monitor weather conditions, prepare briefings, and support operational decision-making and emergency preparedness.

You will gain hands-on experience applying meteorology in a utility setting and work with BI tools, AI applications, and weather visualization. Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in meteorology or related fields, have strong analytical

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in meteorology or related field.
• Interest in weather analysis and emergency management.
• Experience with weather data visualization or BI tools is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work full-time during summer (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily weather forecasts, watches, warnings, advisories, and other products affecting operations.
• Prepare daily weather briefings, storm outlooks, and situational reports.
• Analyze forecast models, radar imagery, and meteorological data for operational impacts.
• Support weather monitoring during severe weather and emergencies.
• Assist with research on historical weather events and storm trends.
• Correlate weather information with outage data.
• Enhance weather intelligence in Ameren Illinois dashboards and AI tools.
• Explore emerging weather technologies and decision-support resources.
• Collaborate across crisis management, emergency preparedness, and operations teams.
