Job summary
TEGNA's NewsWest 9 seeks a Meteorologist/Multiskilled Journalist to anchor weather on weekends and contribute to daily newscasts and NewsWest 9+.
The MSJ will shoot, write, edit, and enterprise weather and news stories for TV, streaming, and digital platforms while engaging viewers on social media and meeting deadlines.
Degree in Meteorology or Broadcast Journalism is required; flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays; familiarity with ENPS and editing tools is a plus.
Qualifications
- Degree in Meteorology and/or Broadcast Journalism with demonstrated weather experience or equivalent on-air talent.
- Experience in photojournalism, video editing and content management systems.
- Strong social media skills and ability to engage audiences across platforms.
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius and Axis graphics is a plus.
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
Responsibilities
- Develop story ideas, write, shoot, and edit news stories for on-air and streaming platforms.
- Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.
- Enterprise original weather and news content for NewsWest 9+ and website.
- Deliver on-air weather events in an engaging and accurate manner.
- Present weather on weekend newscasts and other shifts as needed.
- Update website and engage with viewers on social media daily.
- Work in the field for special projects and attend community events.
