What You Will Do

The W93 System Development and Realization Group (Q-20) is seeking an R&D Engineer to support the United Kingdom's Replaceable Warhead (UK RW) Program. This role involves facilitating communication between US and UK programs, participating in working groups, and responding to technical inquiries. The position requires understanding LANL capabilities, extracting detailed information, and developing concise responses within tight deadlines. Some travel may be involved.

Additional Responsibilities

This opportunity is part of the first new weapon system program in over 30 years, supporting the development of the W93/Mk7 warhead system for the Navy's ballistic missile program. The role includes collaboration with national labs and defense agencies to ensure safe, reliable, and effective weapon performance.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Knowledge of Nuclear Weapons Systems and subsystems, including design, qualification, safety, and materials.
• Experience with system engineering in nuclear weapon design, development, or surveillance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Master's Degree in Engineering with 6 years of related experience, or equivalent; Ph.D. may be preferred.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with UK defense collaborations and nuclear weapon systems.
• Knowledge of weapon safety, specifications development, and qualification processes.
• Active Q clearance.

Work Environment

Location: Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. The position requires a 1-year commitment and eligibility for a Q clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.
