Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites motivated students to join the Weapon System Engineer (Analyst) – Intern role. You will work in the KBY team within FPS, contributing to multidisciplinary analyses, modeling, and data-driven recommendations to inform design choices.

As an intern you will learn systems engineering fundamentals, explore MBSE approaches with Cameo/Magic Draw and DOORS, and grow weapon-system expertise under senior guidance.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering, CS, physics, applied mathematics, or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, quantitative analysis, and clear communication of technical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate into multidisciplinary teams applying a whole-of-system perspective and systems‑engineering rigor.
  • Support in-depth analyses at system and sub-system levels with data-driven recommendations.
