Job summary

The Law Offices of Frederick W. Nessler & Associates, LTD. in Springfield, Illinois, seeks a hardworking Litigation Paralegal to join our team.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills and a thorough understanding of litigation procedures to assist attorneys through all phases of the case lifecycle. Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, managing case files, coordinating with clients and witnesses, and trial preparation.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate-preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a litigation paralegal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Conduct legal research using various online resources and databases.
  • Manage and organize case files and documents, including indexing and preparing exhibits for trial.
  • Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and experts to schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing trial notebooks and exhibits.
  • Maintain communication with clients to provide case updates and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare and file documents with state and federal courts, including e-filing when applicable.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing attorney calendars.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of legal procedures and terminology related to litigation. The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys to assist in all phases of the litigation process.
