Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation claims professional in Downers Grove, IL. The role focuses on managing claims from investigation to closure, with emphasis on timely contact, proper documentation, and effective settlements.

You will coordinate with Medical Case Management and internal resources to resolve claims, while ensuring compliance with state laws and company policies. A license and ongoing CE credits may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year Workers Compensation claim handling experience or successful completion of the WC trainee program.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to present file resolution to internal and/or external stakeholders.
• Negotiation: ability to understand alternatives and reach a fair agreement.
• General Insurance Contract Knowledge and familiarity with state laws.
• Understanding of investigation processes and ability to determine reserves.

Responsibilities

• Investigate claims, assess policy coverage, contact insureds, injured workers, medical providers and others to determine compensability.
• Establish and update reserves to reflect claim exposure and document rationale.
• Manage files with timely contact and proper documentation to resolve issues and return to work.
• Collaborate with medical and legal resources to pursue claim resolution opportunities.
• Negotiate settlements within designated authority and apply Medicare Set Asides as needed.
