Job summary

The State of Ohio, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Cleveland Service Office, is seeking a dedicated WC Claims Specialist to manage a caseload of workers’ compensation claims and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to set return-to-work expectations.

Responsibilities include initial and subsequent claims investigations, processing various compensation types, and responding to inquiries while following Ohio law and agency policies.

Qualifications

• 36 mos. exp. in position requiring evaluation of medical or public assistance benefits or related worker's compensation experience.
• Experience evaluating medical or public assistance benefits to determine eligibility or benefit payments.
• Proven ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and document claims accurately.

Responsibilities

• Manages a caseload of Workers’ Compensation claims and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to set return-to-work expectations.
• Performs initial/subsequent claims investigation and determination within prescribed timeframes, contacting involved parties and gathering pertinent information.
• Processes compensation types including TT, Wage Loss, Permanent Partial, Lump Sum, and related requests; follows due process and refers to IC Ohio as needed.
• Responds to customer inquiries and ensures compliance with Ohio Revised Code and BWC policies.
• Communicates with legal representatives, employers, claimants, and rehabilitation personnel; maintains clear written records.
