Robbinsdale Area Schools is hiring a Special Education Assistant for the WAVE program at Cooper High School in Minnesota. This seven-hour day position includes 6.5 hours of paid work time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch, with compensation at $24.03 per hour plus benefits.

The role supports students in a structured, predictable setting for those with ASD and related needs, and will involve supervising and assisting in instruction with a focus on safety and crisis support.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credits (MN typical 60 credits) or an associate's degree or higher.
• Passing score on the ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment is acceptable.
• Experience with students who have cognitive disabilities and behavior challenges is preferred.
• Proficiency with basic word processing, filing and computer use.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to confidentiality and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing supervision and instruction to students with disabilities.
• Provides clerical and organizational support to teachers as needed.
• Works with individuals and/or small groups as activities are presented by teachers.
• Provides support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically assist as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher or principal.
