Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant for Armstrong High School to support the RISE program. The role runs seven hours daily, including 6.5 paid hours and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch, at a rate of $24.03 per hour with benefits.

The position focuses on assisting students with disabilities in a structured environment, with high staff-to-student ratios and opportunities to work in center-based classrooms and mainstream settings.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credits (usually 60 credits in MN), an associate's or higher degree, or a passing score on the ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment.
• Experience working with students who have cognitive, physical disabilities or behavior problems preferred.
• Word processing, filing and computer familiarity.
• Patient, calm and understanding demeanor when working with students.
• Sensitivity to confidentiality.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Ability to assist students with classroom assignments.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing supervision and instruction to students with disabilities.
• Provides clerical and organizational support to special education teachers as needed.
• Works with individuals and/or small groups when activities and assignments are presented by mainstream teachers and/or special education teachers.
• Provides support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically manage as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher or principal.
